KBR Signs Contract with Fortescue for Green Ammonia Technology in Norway
KBR , a global leader in engineering and technology solutions, has announced a significant contract signing with Fortescue for the provision of its green ammonia technology, K-GreeN®, as part of the Holmaneset green energy project in Norway.
Under the agreement, KBR will supply its green ammonia technology for the construction of a 675 metric tonnes per day grassroots green ammonia plant in Norway. The scope of the contract includes technology licensing, proprietary engineering design, and front-end engineering design (FEED) support services.
Jay Ibrahim, President of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Fortescue, highlighting KBR’s commitment to offering zero-carbon solutions for the energy industry. Ibrahim emphasized KBR’s role in advancing the green energy value chain and supporting the decarbonization efforts of industries facing significant emissions challenges.
With a strong legacy in ammonia technology, KBR has been a pioneer in the field for decades, having contributed to the licensing, engineering, or construction of over 250 grassroots ammonia plants worldwide since 1943.
The partnership between KBR and Fortescue marks a significant step towards the advancement of green energy initiatives, particularly in the production of zero-carbon green ammonia. The deployment of K-GreeN® technology underscores KBR’s continued commitment to innovation and sustainability in the global energy landscape.
